Merry Christmas!

As it is Christmas Eve, I just wanted to remind everyone that church is only 1 hr tomorrow. (YAY!!!- wait, did I just type that out loud? lol) Anyway it is at 11am at the 108 building. Only Sacrament. I hope that everyone has a beautiful holiday season and that your relationship with the savior grows as we celebrate his birth!

My family just adores Kid History. Here is their newest one, the Christmas one. If you haven't seen episodes 1-6 then please take time to watch them. They are hilarious and our family quotes them on a daily bases.

Sock It to Me!

Our R.S. Christmas Activity is this Fri (dec. 9th) and I guess that there has been some confusion as to the sock exchange. To make it easier- I will include some directions (wink, wink)

Step 1: Go pick out cute, funny, ridiculous, beautiful, fuzzy, colorful, tacky or comfy socks from a store. (depending on your personality) Please don't pay more than $4 or $5. (They really should be new)

Step 2: Bring your socks home and wrap them. Please keep the package unmarked (no name tags)

Note: This is pretty much a white elephant exchange only with socks.

Note: If you would like to participate in the sock exchange but cannot afford an extra pair of sockies right now- then please contact me (Terra Jacobs) or Luetta Monson.

We will have the crafts in the gym and have that going for the whole time and if you would like to catch a any or all of the classes then you can leave and go to those (not sure which room they will be in yet- maybe R.S. Room or room off of the kitchen).

Also there will be a lunch. Sis. Crook, who is on our R.S. Activities commitee has come up with an idea to make a pizza salad (come on, now you KNOW that got your attention-lol) Anyway, come and join us and bring your favorite Pizza topping.

We also added one more craft to the order form. That is the Washer necklaces. Here is a picture of them. They will be $2.50-$3.50.
(Note- this photo I took off of etsy, but it is pretty similar to what we will be making)
Make sure you sign up so that we can purchase the needed supplies.

Oh! And one last thing- I have been asked if it is okay to just bring gifts or crafts that you need to finish before Christmas. I say YES!!!! We would LOVE to have you come, no matter what you are working on. (Did I say, "LOVE?"- lol)

Just Received from Stake Humanitrian Specialist...

Sisters as you know we are trying to help support the churches humanitarian project to make twin & larger size quilts!!
I have been asked about Store purchased Blankets & quilts are they OK to donate to the churches Humanitarian program & the answer is YES!!
Purchased blankets are Ok to Donate as long as they are new! So if you come across a good deal & would like to donate that way instead of making a quilt DO IT!! The cut & tie no sew fleece blankets are not accepted by Salt Lake. I hope this helps! Thanks for all your service!

Emergency Preparedness Activity Tonight!!!!

Don't forget about the Relief Society activity tonight at Jan Barron's house at 7pm. I am sooooo excited to see Jan's kits! She has some great ideas to help us get prepared for emergencies!!!

Pears...

I have just recieved this email from Sis. Monson. She isn't sure who sent it to her, but asked me to post this:

Hi Guys & Gals,

I'm sending this to people I think might be interested. I apologize if you aren't or if you get this more than once.

There is a company looking at bringing an order of pears to distribute in this area. I don't have all the details, but I believe they are from Oregon, they are Bartlett's, will be about 65 cents a pound - depending on how large the order is - and delivered Aug. to Sept. You would need to be available - or find someone who is - to pick them up at a designated time and place.

They asked me to see if there is enough interest to add the Tri-Cities to their route. If you are interested please reply back to me with how many boxes you would intend to purchase. They are about 40 pounds each. I need to know by July 21st and orders and payment will need to be received by Aug. 1st if there are enough boxes ordered.

If we have enough interest then I will collect money - all boxes will be prepaid. Please pass this on to others you know in the area.

Thanks,

If you are interested, then please call Luetta as I don't have any contact info for this person. But who doesn't like pears??? Lol

From Stake Humanitarian Leader.

I just got this email from Lynette Pierce and since we have been successful in the past with helping our sisters through the emails and this blog, I will post it here too.

"I received the following letter if anyone would like to help contact me & I will give you more information!

Lynnette,
Hi, there is a sister in Kennewick who, at the advice of her bishop and stake president has separated from her husband and desperately needs a place to rent. Our place is now rented, so we can't help her. And she would like to live in the West Richland area just so her children don't have to have any more stress by changing schools, but she will move anywhere at this point. She has two children who will be living with her.

Perhaps you could send out an email with just a few words like - Needs to find a place to rent immediately - and then give her name and email.

She explained her situation to me and it's horribly sad."

Thanks!

Emergency Preparedness Activity

Sisters, I am so excited to tell you that on
Thursday, July 28th at 7pm
we will be meeting at Jan Barron's house to learn about some things we can do to get prepared for an emergency. Jan is amazing and her kits are fantastic. We hope to see you there!

Is it June Already?

A Few Things Sisters,

Activity:
June 23 at 7pm at Anita Farrell's House, we will be having a -Bring-Your-Favorite-Dessert-Night.
And we will be playing a game with your Purse. (Yes, the fuller, the better-hehehe)

JOB OP:
Also- I have received this email from The Stake Humanitarian Leader, Lynnette Pierce, about a sister in our own ward, Jamie Flores. This is what she said:
I need to find a new babysitter. My babysitter told me on monday that she is moving back to utah next tuesday. I don't have much time to find a replacement. I would like to have someone come to my house, but I am not going to be too picky with the short notice. I work 2pm-10pm on a rotating schedule. I would basically need someone from 1:30-10:30. My kids are 6 and 2. I pay $35.00/day.
Since I don't feel comfortable putting her personal info on this blog, if you can help, then please email me at TLJWOW@aol.com and I will pass it on.

Service:
Salt Lake is in desparate need of twin and full size quilts. We are working on setting up a session for tying a quilt(s), but in the meantime are asking for donations. We will appreciate anything that you can give, but are in need of large pieces to be either a top or bottom of a twin or full quilt. Please Bring to Church on Sunday or Contact a member of the RS Presidency.

Also, I was reading on the Woodward Blog about an update on sweet little Clara and came across a request from Natasha. She is asking for pictures of the families that are praying for Clara to be sent to her, so that she may compose a scrapbook full of the families that are praying for this beautiful little girl. To find out more about this, please read HERE.

Conference Weekend

If you are like me, your kids need all the help that they can get during General Conference.(and I would like to keep what little sanity I have left, please...lol) My kiddos LOVE the coloring packet ideas. I just found ideas like THIS and THIS and THIS that I thought are awesome too!!!!And HERE is a list of a bunch of ideas! If anyone tries one (or some) let me know!!(Wink, wink)

Last Sat. Brunch was super fun!

Thanks to all those who attended the brunch at my (Sis Jacobs') house on Saturday. It was great to meet new people (and eat yummy food!) I didn't get any pics of the brunch to post- (something I will learn to do) ~but in the mean-time, did you know that if you make a cake mix (and mix it according to the directions on the box) and put it in a hot waffle iron- you can make cake waffles?!?! They come out a little more soft and spongy than regular waffles- but waaaaay sweeter (cuz they're cake-lol). You can really play around with flavors and such. Butter Pecan tastes like it has syrup already in it. (Note: Don't use Angel Food Cake unless you want to destroy your waffle iron). For toppings, you can use ice cream, fruit, frosting or icing, (and probably syrup if you really want to).

Have a great Day!
